Boeing announced that the Defense Acquisition Board Milestone C review, which included testing by the Defense Department, has approved the Increment 1 for low-rate initial production for 2010.

"The decision to enter initial production demonstrates Boeing's commitment to develop and field the types of networked capabilities and technologies that our warfighters need today in Afghanistan," Dennis Muilenburg, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Boeing and our partners look forward to delivering the initial set of equipment to the Army."
