LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Energy company Rentech Inc. says its synthetic diesel fuel recently supported a vehicle demonstration at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Michigan.

Rentech announced its RenDiesel synthetic diesel fuel, produced from the Fischer-Tropsch process, was used in a demonstration of the Lasso Utility Vehicle designed by ICRC/VSE Corp. for the U.S. military.

The Lasso demonstration, part of an air show at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base, was an initiative to address the viability of synthetic fuel for the military's all-terrain light combat support utility vehicles and other applications.

According to a news release Rentech's "synthetic jet and diesel fuel can be produced from abundant U.S. domestic resources, including coal and biomass, to produce a large volume of drop-in fuels that are cleaner-burning than petroleum-derived fuel."
