Alion to support Army spectrum management

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Alion Science and Technology to provide radio frequency modeling and analysis support services.

U.S. company Alion was awarded the contract to support the Army Spectrum Management Office. Under the $7.8 million contract, Alion will provide solutions address RF spectrum overcrowding concerns with RF spectrum modeling and simulation.

As part of the Alion-operated Modeling and Simulation Information Analysis Center contract vehicle Alion will "certify spectrum-dependent system technology; develop improved software tools to model RF compatibility and availability on the battlefield; and assist Army Spectrum Management Office in evaluating wireless network after next technology," a news release said.

"Constraints on real-time access to RF spectrum are a risk to both warfighters and first responders at home," Sue Archer, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Operational Solutions Group, said in a statement.
