Unisys selected to support GFM

BLUE BELL, Pa., June 24 (UPI) -- Unisys has been awarded a follow-on contract to continue its support of the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command's Global Freight Management.

U.S. company Unisys was awarded the follow-on Schedule 70 contract from the General Services Administration. Under the contract, worth $17.4 million if all options are exercised, Unisys will continue to support Global Freight Management system.

The Defense Department uses the GFM system to move its military freight through commercial freight transportation services. Officials say the contract also includes project management, e-commerce and systems training among other services.

"Unisys has been the development contractor with the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command for 19 years, and we are invested in the system and want to continue to improve it," Jim Geiger, Unisys Federal Systems Department of Defense managing partner, said in a statement.
