BLUE BELL, Pa., May 13 (UPI) -- Unisys has been awarded a task order from the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency to provide the Joint Forces Command with information technology support.
U.S. company Unisys received the contract from the DISA Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization. The contract, a re-compete award from previous work completed by Unisys, is for the company to provide IT support for the Virginia-based JFCOM as part of the DISA Encore II contract vehicle.
Under the deal, Unisys will help JFCOM implement the Defense Department Joint Network-Centric Data Strategy. Officials said Unisys will focus on supporting the advancement of the strategy's command-and-control capabilities.
"Unisys is very pleased to be able to continue supporting the Joint Forces Command in this extremely important, pioneering work that will promote information sharing among various communities within the (Defense Department)," Jim Geiger, Unisys Federal Systems Defense Department managing partner, said in a statement.
"This activity is an essential component of the (Defense Department) strategy to provide effective command-and-control data to support military personnel in the field."
