NSA awards Sypris Tempest certification

TAMPA, Fla., April 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. National Security Agency announced that Sypris Electronics has been certified as a Tempest Test Services Facility.

Florida-based Sypris Electronics, a ruggedized-electronic-products and engineering-services provider, became one of only 10 companies with the NSA approval.

The NSA's Tempest certification is awarded after companies are evaluated and can ensure that the ruggedized electronic equipment they develop to be deployed in combat zones has reduced or non-existent electromagnetic emissions, which can cause security risks to sensitive information.

"Tempest testing is critical in protecting our troops and national security," John Walsh, Sypris Electronics president, said in a statement.

"This privileged and rigorous certification places Sypris Electronics in a unique class being able to help companies certify their ruggedized electronic products for use in a military environment."
