Ducommun to supply exhausts for V-22s

LOS ANGELES, April 9 (UPI) -- Ducommun Inc. has been contracted to supply exhaust systems to support the U.S. military's V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft program.

U.S. company Ducommun said its Ducommun AeroStructures subsidiary was awarded the contract. Under the deal, DAS will support the production of the Boeing- and Bell Helicopter-designed V-22 Osprey aircraft with its titanium EAPS exhaust ducts.

The V-22 Osprey is designed to provide the Air Force and Marine Corps with both a conventional helicopter's takeoff and landing capabilities and also horizontal long-range turboprop aircraft capabilities.

"We expect to exploit the synergies in customer base, programs, products and processes in the expanded DAS family to take on higher value-added statements of work for our key customers," Joseph Berenato, Ducommun chairman and chief executive, said in a statement.

"Finally, we believe this award is an indication of the confidence both Boeing and Bell Helicopter have in Ducommun and our ability to support the V-22 Osprey program."
