ARLINGTON, Va., March 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has selected BAE Systems to compete for simulation and training task orders as part of a multibillion-dollar contract vehicle.
British company BAE was selected by the Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation to compete for the office's Omnibus Contract II task orders, known as STOC II.
The STOC II task orders are worth approximately $17.5 billion and are designed to support the development and fielding of simulators and training initiatives for the Army. BAE said its U.S. Combat Systems business unit will compete for task orders.
"The virtual training systems we create are an important tool for soldiers preparing for combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, allowing them to train in a safe but yet very realistic environment before meeting the challenges of today's battlefield," Juan Vela, BAE Systems U.S. Combat Systems director of programs, said in a statement.
