Sikorsky, Mubadala form joint venture

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- U.S. company Sikorsky Aerospace Services has partnered with Mubadala Development Co. to develop a military-aviation maintenance center.

United Arab Emirates-based Mubadala announced it signed a heads-of-agreement deal with aircraft developer Sikorsky. The new joint venture is designed for Sikorsky and Mubadala to establish a maintenance, repair and overhaul center that supports the United Arab Emirates armed forces' military-aircraft maintenance.

The center, which will also provide maintenance services for other Middle East and North African military-aviation programs, will be expected to support fixed and rotary-wing aircraft and also act as a center for new military-aviation development programs.

"This agreement marks a major step in development of the region's prominence as an aerospace leader and in Sikorsky Aerospace Services' mission to establish strategic partnerships in every region of the world where our customers operate," David Adler, Sikorsky Aerospace Services president, said in a statement.

"Together with Mubadala, we intend to bring world-class, one-stop support and logistics maintenance capabilities to this region."
