Orbit contracted for Sea Stallion upgrades

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- U.S. company Orbit International Corp. has been contracted to support the CH-53E Sea Stallion heavy-lift transport helicopter upgrade program.

Orbit International says its Electronics Group's Tulip Development Laboratory received the more than $100,000 design and qualification award from an unnamed company working as the prime contractor for the Sea Stallion upgrade program.

Officials say after the approval of the design and qualification, TDL will upgrade Sea Stallion cockpit display systems with new advanced technologies worth as much as $3 million in potential production orders.

"The CH-53E Sea Stallion design and qualification display award validates our niche marketplace capabilities," David Gutman, TDL president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.

"Our design approach will be a multifunctional configuration, which will allow this display to operate as a potential replacement upgrade unit, requiring little or no modification for new and existing aircraft structures."
