ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army announced it has not accepted a proposal from VSE Corp. for work on the Rapid Response program.
Virginia-based VSE is currently contracted to support the Army's Rapid Response program until 2010. However, the company's recent follow-up proposal for continuing work on the new Rapid Response program, the Rapid Response-Third Generation, was not accepted by the Army.
Army officials called VSE's proposal "not in the competitive range," according to a release from VSE.
"We are very surprised and disappointed with this outcome," Mo Gauthier, VSE chief executive officer, president and chief operations officer, said in a statement.
"We believe our performance under the Rapid Response contract has been exceptional. We have requested a debrief from the Army. Once we have been advised about the details of the selection process, we will make a decision about our options."
