Jacobs to support Air Force capabilities

PASADENA, Calif., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force announced it has contracted California-based Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. for experimental capabilities support.

Jacobs is a technical, professional, and construction services company for the defense and commercial markets. Under the $25 million, five-year deal, the company will support the U.S. Air Force with experimental capabilities at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio-based Air Force Research Laboratory's Aeronautical Sciences Division.

"We are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which dates back to the 1940s," said Jacobs President and Chief Executive Officer Craig Martin.

"With this contract, we add the operation and maintenance of additional wind tunnels to the current cadre of support we provide to the Air Force. Within these tunnels, we will support experimental tests designed to develop and verify the capabilities of various advanced technology demonstration programs that cover many different aerospace applications needed to enhance our national defense."

Company officials say the contract is an effort to support the Air Force's Trisonic Gasdynamics Facility, the Subsonic Aerodynamic Research Laboratory, the Vertical Wind Tunnel, and the Free Surface Water Tunnel.
