Saudi envoy to U.S. steps down

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, July 20 (UPI) -- The Saudi government Wednesday announced that the dean of the Washington diplomatic corps was stepping down from his post.

The official Saudi Press Agency said Prince Bandar Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz, who has been the Saudi ambassador to Washington for more than 20 years, was resigning and King Fahd had accepted the resignation.

Fahd has named Prince Turki al-Faisal, the current ambassador to Britain, to replace Bandar.
