Pakistan military leader killed in crash

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- The plane carrying the leader of Pakistan's air force and several other military officials crashed in bad weather Thursday, killing all on board.

The British Broadcasting Corp. quoted a Pakistan military spokesman as saying there were no survivors in the crash of the Fokker aircraft when it went down some 150 miles northwest of Islamabad. While a cause has not been determined, the BBC said senior officials have said the crash appears to have been an accident.

The BBC said Pakistan announced that deputy chief of the air force Syed Qaiser Hussain was named acting air force chief.
