IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Korea Aerospace Industries has selected Marvin Test Solutions to provide MTS-209 test sets for T-50TH trainer aircraft.

The MTS-209 is a portable test set used for various armament systems on fighter aircraft. The system is compatible with the F-16, F-15, F-18, and other planes. The set is designed to simplify logistics, and supports missile launchers, bomb racks and aircraft pylons.

KAI's contract with Marvin supports its sale of T-50 trainer aircraft to Thailand's air force. The country selected the plane to replace its fleet of L-39 Albatros trainers in September 2015, and expects its first delivery to take place in March 2018.

The T-50 Golden Eagle was jointly designed by KAI and Lockheed Martin to prepare pilots for operating various multi-role fighters.

According to Lockheed Martin, the plane's flight capabilities eliminate 5th-generation training gaps, and performs similarly to the F-16, F-22, and F-35.

In addition to South Korea, current operators include the air forces of Indonesia, Iraq and the Philippines.
