Lockheed gets $10 million U.S. Navy F-35 contract modification

Option exercised to procure additional diminishing manufacturing sources for electronic components.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin Aeronautics has been awarded a $10 million U.S. Navy contract modification for work on F-35 Lightning II electronic components.

The modification to the firm-fixed-price contracts exercises an option to procure additional diminishing manufacturing sources for electronic components in support of the F-35 Lightning II.

Work will be performed in Texas and is expected to be completed in December 2018.

Naval Air Systems Command is the contracting activity.

The sea service's version of the Joint Strike Fighter is a single-seat, single-engine, all-weather fighter.
