Datron gets $495 million Afghan radio contract

Foreign military sales contract is for radios and support equipment for Afghanistan.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Datron World Communications has been awarded a $495 million contract to provide Afghanistan with radios and support equipment.

The U.S. Army deal is a firm-fixed-price foreign military sales contract.

Bids were solicited online and one was received.

Work locations will be determined with each order, and the contract's estimated completion date is August 2021.

The Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity.

Datron provides an array of HF and VHF military voice and data radio products, rapidly deployable IP networking solutions and vertical take-off and landing drone systems.

It has customers in more than 80 countries.
