Elbit receives European order for tactical radios

An unidentified country in Western Europe has ordered mobile tactical radios from Elbit Systems.

HAIFA, Israel, April 26 (UPI) -- Elbit Systems of Israel reports it is to supply tactical mobile radios to an unidentified Western European country under a contract worth $20 million.

The radios, from the new and advanced E-LynX Software Defined Radios family, will be used on a variety of combat vehicles and integrated into dismounted soldier systems.

"We are proud to supply the customer with our newest E-LynX family of SDR systems, which are based on decades of experience and proven radio products and technologies," said Yehuda (Udi) Vered, general manager of Elbit Systems Land & C4I Division.

"The modern battlefield requires sophisticated networking capabilities for the maneuvering forces as an infrastructure for situational awareness and terrain dominance. This award is a result of our continuous efforts and investments in research and development in order to achieve modern military networking and radio capabilities."

The exact numbers to be provided was not detailed but Elbit said the will be produced and delivered over three years.

E-LynX radios provide voice, data and video services simultaneously, along with integrated blue force tracking capabilities in narrow- and wide-band waveforms. The communications solution is designed to serve as the mobile networking backbone for modern Battle Management Systems and soldier systems.
