NAS JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 9 (UPI) -- Boeing is providing maintenance simulators to the U.S. Navy for P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft to the U.S. Navy.
The value of the order from the Navy was not disclosed.

According to Boeing, the Navy intends to use six virtual trainers, one ordnance load trainer and 14 hardware-based devices to train P-8A maintenance personnel at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla., beginning in 2016.
Boeing has delivered a dozen P-8A Poseidons to the Navy, which intends to eventually procure more than 100 of the aircraft and has also delivered several aircrew training simulators.
The virtual maintenance training devices provide interactive, high-fidelity simulations based on actual mission systems software. The hardware-based trainers being provided are full-scale replicas of aircraft components.
"As the manufacturer of the P-8A aircraft, Boeing offers unmatched expertise that translates directly into fleet readiness," said Mark McGraw, vice president of Training Systems and Government Services for Boeing Defense, Space & Security.
The P-8A is based on Boeing’s 737-800 commercial aircraft and is replacing the Navy’s aging fleet of P-3 Orion patrol planes.
