MTS supplies test systems for aircraft structures

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Jan. 24 (UPI) -- An extensive array of mechanical test systems has been sold to Wichita State University's National Institute of Aviation Research by MTS Systems Corporation.

Systems supplied for the university's National Institute of Aviation Research's new Aircraft Structural Test and Evaluation Center include the company's FlexTest controllers, MTS FlexDAC data acquisition systems and AeroPro software for structural test applications, and high-force load frames for component and materials testing.

"MTS provides the world's most complete offering of high-performance aerospace testing solutions," said Bill Hardy, MTS Test Worldwide vice president of Sales and Marketing. "ASTEC has significantly increased their testing capability through the application of synchronized MTS controls and data acquisition hardware and software.

"NIAR can now offer its customers simplified test setup, accelerated test execution and streamlined post-test data processing, which greatly enhances its competitive position as a full-service contract lab."

The new ASTEC facility is 130,000 square feet in size and conducts structural testing on commercial and military aircraft.

MTS, a provider of test systems and position sensors, did not provide details as to the price of the equipment supplied.
