Bell receives order for medical evacuation helicopters

FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- The largest, independently owned helicopter ambulance service in the United States is buying Bell 206L-4 aircraft.

Bell Helicopter said the agreement with Air Medical Group Holdings, signed on Tuesday, is for 20 aircraft. Deliveries will begin this year and continue through 2017.

"These new aircraft will serve as replacements for older aircraft in service as well as provide for growth of the service area," said Seth Myers, president of Air Evac EMS, Inc., a subsidiary of AMGH. "We appreciate the quality aircraft, service and support Bell Helicopter has provided us over the years and look forward to continuing to offer a variety of Bell products to our customers

The Bell 206L-4 is a twin-engine aircraft with a maximum speed of 138 miles per hour and a range of 430 miles. It seats seven.

Air Evac EMS, Inc. operates Air Evac Lifeteam, which flies from 115 mutually supporting air medical bases across 15 states. It has a fleet of 130 medical evacuation helicopters.

The monetary value of the sales agreement was not disclosed.
