Eurocopter rebrands as Airbus Helicopters

MARIGNANE, France, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Eurocopter, a subsidiary of the Netherlands-registered EADS Group, was officially rebranded as Airbus Helicopters on Wednesday.

The rebranding is part of EADS' overall reorganization and rebranding as the Airbus Group, with three divisions Airbus, Airbus Defense & Space, and Airbus Helicopters.

"This rebranding works hand in hand with our ongoing transformation, which is now bolstered by the Airbus brand's strong foundation in innovation, quality and industrial excellence," said Guillaume Faury, president of Airbus Helicopters. "Both of these together will serve our ambition of setting the industry standard in terms of safety, mission capability and performance for our operators around the world."

The naming and designations of Airbus Helicopters' products remain unchanged for the time being, the company said.

Airbus Helicopters is based in Marignane, France, near the port city of Marseilles. The company's in-service fleet of helicopters in military and civilian use worldwide number more than 12,000.
