DRS continues work on Navy repair station consoles

ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Repair station consoles of U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) ships are to be upgraded by a business unit of DRS Technologies Inc.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to DRS Laurel Technologies of Pennsylvania is for five years and has a potential value of as much as $22 million.

"DRS is proud the Navy recognizes the quality of our work and products," said Patrick Marion, vice president and general manager of the DRS Maritime Systems and Services. "Our company has provided display consoles and support for the DDG platform over the last several decades and continues to supply all branches of our military with specialty products that supply significant utility and value to numerous mission-critical platforms."

Repair ship console systems automate and integrate shipboard damage control communications. Under the contract, DRS will continue to provide RSC-associated training sets, engineering services, support and spare parts.

DRS said contract work will be conducted at various ship homeports in the United States and overseas.
