Russian Helicopters part of pan-European aerospace industry group

MOSCOW, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Russian Helicopters has announced its gaining of full membership in a pan-European organization that promotes product quality standards.

The company's application for full membership in the European Aerospace Quality Group was approved in the end of September, the company said Monday.

"Participation in the European Aerospace Quality Group will harmonize the quality management system of its member companies with the European standards and will become an important step towards strengthening the strategic position of Russian Helicopters on the international market," said Andrey Shibitov, deputy director for production at Russian Helicopters.

"Today the quality management system of the company is being improved in accordance with the requirements of the international standards for aerospace and defense industries of the AS/EN 9100 series, with some of the enterprises of Russian Helicopters already certified according to the requirements of those standards and included in the International database of suppliers of the aerospace sector."

AS/EN 9100 is a series of standards for in the design and manufacturing of aerospace products. It was set by the International Aerospace Quality Group, an international body of aerospace companies of which the European Aerospace Quality Group -- comprised of 34 companies, such as AgustaWestland and Turbomeca -- is a part.
