VSE to support rebuild of USMC semi-trailers

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Government services company VSE Corp. will support the Marine Depot Maintenance Command in rebuilding hundreds of semi-trailers for equipment and fuel.

The work comes under to firm fixed-price indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts. Each has a one-year base period of performance and four one-year options. Their combined value is more than $11.8 million.

"We will apply the expertise, experience, level of detailed knowledge, and resources needed to restore these semi-trailers to the best possible condition," said VSE Federal Group President Donnelle Moten. "VSE's goal for this effort is to ensure that our nation's first line of defense is battle-ready and fully equipped."

Under both contracts, VSE will support the Marine Depot Maintenance Command in Albany, Ga., in rebuilding about 170 40-ton payload, three-axle medium heavy equipment transporter semi-trailers and 230 5,000-gallon fuel dispensing semi-trailers.

VSE said it will restore the semi-trailers to a serviceable and issuable condition and also apply a corrosion prevention coating to them, thus helping reduce life-cycle costs.
