Serco honored for security measures

RESTON, Va., July 12 (UPI) -- Technology and services firm Serco Inc. has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense's Defense Security Service for excellence in industrial security.

The award, the 2013 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Achievement Award, takes into account such factors as establishing and maintaining a security program that greatly exceeds basic National Industrial Security Program requirements and providing leadership to other security cleared facilities.

To be considered for the recognition, a company is required to have a minimum of two consecutive superior industrial security review ratings to show excellence and innovation in overall security program management, implementation and oversight.

"We are honored to receive the Cogswell Award in recognition of our dedication and focus on security excellence," said Ed Casey, Serco's chairman and chief executive officer. "Our team here at Serco recognizes that national security impacts the safety of our warfighters and our nation.

"We are committed to protecting national security, while providing best-in-class services to our customers."

Serco was one of 24 companies, out of more than 13,500 defense contractors to receive the award.
