MELBOURNE, Fla., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- An unidentified NATO member has ordered Falcon III Secure Personal Radios from the Harris Corp. of the United States.
The order is worth $11 million, the company said, and is linked to a framework contract with the potential value of $20 million over the next year.
Harris said the radios include its RF-7800S SPR, advanced headsets and other accessories to provide high-performance voice, integrated hearing protection, wideband data and situational awareness capabilities at the team, squad and platoon levels.
"This soldier system program provides important new communication capabilities at the soldier level," said Brendan O'Connell, president, international business, Harris RF Communications.
"The Harris SPR provides the best performance and best overall solution for team-based communications, with maximum range and voice quality."
The SPR, with an integrated GPS, features full-duplex voice, multiple talk-group capabilities and data rates up to 256 Kbps at a range of greater than 1 mile. Continuous coverage is in the 350-450 MHz frequency range.
