WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin has developed a system that links weapons and sensor data with advanced map-based command-and-control capabilities for air defense.
Called DIAMONDShield, the system enables a continuous C2 cycle.
"DIAMONDShield transforms operational command and control of air and missile defense assets into a collaboration and optimization of assets," said Cliff Spier, vice president of C2 Solutions for Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Solutions-Defense.
"We have brought everything together to provide users with an integrated view of a complex battlespace."
The core of the system, Lockheed said, is a modern service oriented architecture, enabling sensors-to-shooter integration and inter-operability with a range of tactical communications, sensors, weapons and existing legacy systems.
Lockheed said it leveraged its experience in development of systems such as the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications system in its development. C2BMC integrates multiple defensive ballistic missile defensive weapons systems and the Integrated Space Command and Control system that fuses data from several U.S. Air Force C2 systems.
