ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Abu Dhabi's state defense firm Tawazun is launching its new STR-12 rifle.
The new weapon is a second variant of the STR-12 rifle that state armaments firm Tawazun Advanced Defense Systems introduced earlier this year.
The presentation to the global community took place at state security exhibition Milipol Qatar under way in the Qatar capital Doha.
"Our presence at Milipol allows us to showcase the new STR-12 rifle -- as well as our other products -- and to demonstrate how the U.A.E. is fast developing a high-quality capability in the field of advanced defense systems," said TADS General Manager Anas Al Otaiba.
He said the new STR-12 is a product that "we're confident will stand among the finest tactical rifles available in the market today."
"We're extremely proud that it is being designed and manufactured in the U.A.E.," Al Otaiba said.
The STR-12 rifle is produced in the TADS manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi's Tawazun Industrial Park.
