Chiarelli joins Harris board

MELBOURNE, Fla., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A former U.S. Army vice chief of staff has been appointed a member of the board of directors of the Harris Corp. with immediate effect.

Retired Army Gen. Peter W. Chiarelli, who held the Army post from 2008 until his retirement this year, had also in his career served as senior military assistant to the U.S. secretary of Defense; commander of the Multi-National Corps in Iraq; commander of the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, and in Iraq; U.S. Army chief Operations, Training and Mobilization; and executive officer, Supreme Allied Commander Europe.

"Gen. Chiarelli is a tremendous addition to Harris' board of directors," said Thomas A. Dattilo, chairman of the Harris board of directors. "With his vast U.S. and global military leadership experience, he will provide a unique perspective to many of our businesses."
