CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 13 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia's Royal Air Force is to receive the DB-110 airborne reconnaissance system for its F-15s from the Goodrich Corp.
The units are being procured by Saudi Arabia through the U.S. Air Force's Foreign Military Sales program.
The DB-110 is a digital, real-time tactical reconnaissance system that uses electro-optical/infrared sensor technology for capturing images, which can be transmitted in real time to analysts on the ground as well as viewed on the cockpit video display.
A total of 10 dual-band reconnaissance pods will be delivered as well as five fixed, transportable and mobile ground exploitation stations.
Goodrich said work on the contract will be performed at a facility in Massachusetts and also from a facility in Britain.
Training and logistical support is included in the deal.
"This is an important selection by the Royal Saudi Air Force for our DB-110 reconnaissance system for their F-15 aircraft," said Andrew Chrostowski, vice president of Goodrich's ISR Systems business. "It is the first F-15 program for the DB-110 and will certify our system for operation on that platform."
