DHS picks SAIC for communications assist

MCLEAN, Va., May 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has tapped SAIC to provide it with communications services.

The contract given Science Applications International Corp. is a multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity vehicle. It is for a two-year base performance period and carries three one-year options.

If all options are exercised, the contract's total value would be about $3 billion.

Thirty companies have won a place on the contract and will compete for task orders.

Communications services SAIC would provide to the DHS community include engineering and infrastructure services for tactical command, control and communications, operations and maintenance services for tactical command, control, communications and computers.

"SAIC is proud to be selected for this award and we look forward to enhancing the tactical communications capability of DHS to improve officer safety, protect our borders, and ensure national resilience to disasters," said Doug Wagoner, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
