GeoEye to work with Indian company

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, April 25 (UPI) -- U.S. company GeoEye Inc. and India's Rolta, an IT solutions company, are working to market GeoEye's high-resolution satellite imagery worldwide.

Rolta, in an announcement from the Netherlands, said that under the Memorandum of Understanding between the firms, new geospatial products and services would be developed, including 3-D city solutions for commercial users in urban planning, construction and infrastructure development.

"Rolta has been engaged in providing geospatial solutions for over two decades. Imagery plays a critical role -- especially for defense and homeland security -- to enable users to rapidly analyze change, visualize impacts and make informed decisions in the field in a timely manner," said Preetha Pulusani, Rolta's chief strategy officer.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with GeoEye to provide our customers with tools and content to meet their most challenging needs."

The first market to be exploited for GeoEye products through the partnership is India, Rolta said.

Rolta also plans to leverage GeoEye's imagery service and predictive analytics expertise to develop homeland and defense security solutions.
