U.S. Navy contracts support services

FALLS CHURCH, Va., April 17 (UPI) -- CSC of Virginia will provide management support services for acquisition programs of the U.S. Strategic and Theater Sealift Program Office.

A task order for the services -- under a 2004 Naval Sea Systems Command SEAPORT-Enhanced contract vehicle -- has a one-year base period of performance and four, one-year options.

The total value if all options are exercised is about $113 million.

"The acquisition programs CSC will support on this contract are vital in executing the Navy's 21st-century warfighting plans," said Alan B. Weakley, president of CSC's North American Public Sector Defense Group.

"The 'Sea Base' strategy allows U.S. Naval forces to operate at-will throughout the world without relying on the support of other nations in the execution of our foreign policy."

CSC said its management support includes acquisition document preparation, financial management, test and evaluation, integrated logistics, systems integration and technical/engineering.

The Strategic and Theater Sealift Program Office is responsible for the Navy's Joint High Speed Vessel and Mobile Landing Platform acquisition programs and the Sealift Research and Development initiative.
