MCLEAN, Va., March 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has selected Northrop Grumman to modernize its Air and Space Operations Center Weapon System to improve speed and capabilities.
If all options are exercised over an eight-year period, the contract from the Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts, the contract will be worth up to $504 million.
The initial award is $120 million.

"In addition, we will use our cybersecurity expertise to ensure secure operations across the full range of missions."
AOC WS is the command-and-control center for planning, executing and assessing joint air operations during a contingency or conflict. Northrop, as leader of a contracting team, will automate information exchange, speed up integration of warfighter capabilities and reduce lifecycle costs.
Tasks will include design, integration, test and delivery of a network-centric infrastructure and mission applications with fielding and sustainment.
Members of the Northrop-led team include AgilePath Corp.; Capgemini Government Solutions; ZelTech Technologies; Layer 7 Technologies; Bosh Global Services; Applied Minds; and DMM Ventures.
