Upgraded counter-measures system debuted

AARHUS, Denmark, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Danish technology firm Terma has introduced of a new version of its electronic warfare management system for combat and transport aircraft.

The updated ALQ-213 Countermeasures Management System Processor features significant increases within processing and memory, physical form-fit compatibility with current installations, full qualification to F-16 and U.S. Army rotorcraft environmental requirements, additional interfaces to include a third Mil-std-1553 interface and Gigabit Ethernet.

The modernized ALQ-213 also includes anti-tamper functions.

Terma said the new design will allow for additional functions in the future, such as radio frequency sensor integration, sensor fusion, geo-location capabilities, networking, and situational awareness improvements.

The upgraded ALQ-213 Electronic Warfare Management System will be available in 2013. Its current version is used on than 2.000 fighters, transporters, and helicopters worldwide. Among them: more than 1.000 U.S. Air Force F-16s and A-10s.

Terma, although headquartered in Denmark, maintains international subsidiaries and operations in the Netherlands, Germany Singapore. It also has a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Terma North America Inc.
