FN Herstal unveils new rifle

HERSTAL, Belgium, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Belgian arms manufacturer FN Herstal is introducing a new semi-automatic rifle at the 2011 MILIPOL Trade Exhibition in Paris.

The SCAR-H PR is derived from the innovative FN SCAR weapon system. Its tailored design for long-range precision fire applications while providing capability to fight close in.

The SCAR-H PR features a 20-inch heavy barrel and a two-stage trigger module -- match type -- allowing high accuracy, the company said.

Both its folding butt stock and the cheek rest can be adjusted, in length and in height, without tools.

The rifle's iron sights have range settings to 600 yards.

The precision rifle also features an extended top MIL-STD 1913 rail that can accept the in-line assembly of night and day sights for longer ranges.

FN said the SCAR-H PR can fire 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition from either a 10- or 20-round steel magazine.
