HUNT VALLEY, Md., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- U.S. company AAI Test and Training received a $2.2 million deal from EADS-Deutschland, Cassidian, for three Model 310A Advanced Boresight Equipment systems.
The systems support Eurofighter Typhoon EF-2000 aircraft operated by Britain's air force.
AAI Test and Training has delivered EADS-Deutschland, Cassidian, 18 ABE systems for the Eurofighter Typhoons operated by Britain, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain and Saudi Arabia.
"Our ABE system is a reliable, time-tested bore-sighting solution that provides warfighters the data they need to ascertain the mission readiness of their critical avionics and armament systems," says AAI Test and Training Senior Vice President and General Manager Bob Peters.
"It is easy to use and significantly reduces end-to-end harmonization time compared to legacy bore-sighting systems."
ABE is a gyro-stabilized, electro-optical angular measurement system designed to align aircraft subsystems. Because the ABE system supports concurrent maintenance and doesn't require aircraft to be jacked and leveled during the bore-sight procedure, both depot- and operational-level users can maintain schedules and reduce phase maintenance costs.
AAI Test and Training's ABE system is utilized by the U.S. Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Navy for both weaponized and cargo aircraft used to support tactical and peacetime efforts.
