Cassidian to maintain, repair simulators

UNTERSCHLEISSHEIM, Germany, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Cassidian has been contracted by the German government to maintain and repair six Eurofighter flight simulators.

The complex simulators for the aircraft are for the Air Force's Eurofighter units at Rostock-Laage, Neuburg an der Donau and Norvenich.

The contract, which runs until 2015, includes performance of training operations by civilian flight instructors at the Eurofighter simulation centers.

Cassidian's instructors -- former Luftwaffe pilots -- will teach the basics of how to fly the Eurofighter. In collaboration with flying instructors from the German Air Force they will also train experienced pilots in the tactical deployment of the complex weapons system.

Cassidian said will be executed jointly with two other companies, CAE Elektronik GmbH and Rheinmetall Defense Electronics GmbH.

Cassidian is part of the EADS group and provides lead systems integration and value-added products and services to civil and military customers around the globe.

Areas of expertise include air systems, land, naval and joint systems, intelligence and surveillance, cyber security, secure communications, test systems, missiles, services and support solutions.
