Globecomm given U.S. government work

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Aug. 30 (UPI) -- New York communications company Globecomm Systems Inc. has received a $2.3 million infrastructure contract from an unidentified U.S. government agency.

Under the contract, Globecomm will provide Explorer C and Ku band transportable terminals to replenish depleted customer inventory.

The contract also includes a technology refresh of an existing customer Gateway terminal, including RF electronics, Globecomm's Network Management Software product, AxxSys Orion, and associated engineering support services.

"This new award illustrates our client's continued confidence with our Explorer family of transportable earth stations to support their mission," said Michael Plourde, vice president of government programs for Globecomm. "Our customers trust Globecomm to provide reliable infrastructure technology and after-sales support that helps lower their recurring cost of ownership during these challenging economic times."

Globecomm is a global provider of satellite-based managed network solutions.

Details on the length of the award and other terms were not disclosed.
