SAIC gets NAVAIR support contract

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- SAIC will continue to provide technical, engineering and logistics support to the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command under a follow-on task order.

The order, worth more than $45 million, is to support NAVAIR's Air Combat Electronics Program Office has a one-year base period and five one-year options.

Work will be performed primarily at NAVAIR's Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Md. The task order was awarded under the U.S. Navy's SeaPort-e contract.

Under the contract, Science Applications International Corp. will support a communications and airborne networking team that is responsible for concept, technology and system development and demonstration, as well as test and evaluation, production and deployment of CAN products and capabilities.

SAIC will help plan and manage capabilities for naval aviation use, including communication of voice and data in support of tactical and strategic operations; communication and distribution of voice and data among aircrew; secure communications; and collaborative execution of missions across all relevant platforms.
