EADS, Eurocopter consolidating work

PARIS, April 1 (UPI) -- EADS, the European defense and aerospace group, and its Eurocopter subsidiary are consolidating some of their activities in France.

EADS said some activities from Eurocopter's La Courneuve plant, together with a part of EADS' Suresnes research and development activities, are being transferred to Dugny, near Paris and Le Bourget airport.

The move, officially approved by the French government, will enable Eurocopter to modernize its blade production tool and to work closer with the blade balancing activities already at Le Bourget.

"The move will help Eurocopter remain the leader in innovation in France in the face of increasingly fierce competition," EADS said.

The site of the new Eurocopter facility is a former navy airbase and EADS intends to locate a portion of its Innovation Works department within the site.

Eurocopter plans to make major investments as part of the transfer to increase its competitiveness and to further develop its objective to expand its activities in areas such as support and maintenance services, EADS said.
