China orders AgustaWestland helicopters

YEOVIL, England, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- The Public Security Bureau in China's Zhejiang province has ordered two helicopters from AgustaWestland for law enforcement and fire fighting.

The first is an AW119Ke, an eight-seat, single-engine aircraft suited for a variety of tasks, including law enforcement, utility, fire fighting, EMS, VIP/corporate transport and offshore transport.

The second is an AW139 medium, twin-engine helicopter.

AgustaWestland said the AW139 has a maximum speed of 167 knots and features an integrated avionic system for managing sensors and a comprehensive communications suite.

"We are delighted the Zhejiang Public Security Bureau has chosen these two models to enhance its operational capabilities," said Fulvio Maurogiovanni, the company's head of services for the China region. "This contract expands the presence of AgustaWestland helicopters in China and confirms AgustaWestland as the market leader in the Chinese law enforcement and public service markets."

Provinces in which Law enforcement use AgustaWestland helicopters include Shenzhen, Beijing, Nanning, Zhengzhou, Dalian and Guanxi.
