Subsidiaries form new company

UNTERSCHLEISSHEIM, Germany, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- European companies Cassidian and Atlas Elektronik subsidiaries Sofrelog and Atlas Maritime Security have merged to form a new business enterprise.

The new company is called Signalis and is in official operation following approval of the merger by the European Commission and final anti-trust clearance.

"With the creation of Signalis, we contribute the extensive capabilities of Atlas Elektronik for naval and maritime technologies and Cassidian creating a world leader in integrated maritime safety and security systems," said Herve Guillou, chief executive officer of Cassidian Systems. "This merger will allow us to offer our customers solutions that will respond to ever more complex safety and security needs covering land and sea."

Cassidian is a European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company firm. Atlas Elektronik is a joint company of EADS and ThyssenKrupp.

Cassidian owns 60 percent of the new company while Atlas Elektronik hold the remainder of shares.

Cassidian said the Signalis brand will regroup all activities of Sofrelog and Atlas Maritime Security.
