HUNT VALLEY, Md., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Textron Systems' AAI Corp. won a contract for constructing a ground control station for the U.S. Army's Long Endurance Multi-Intelligence Vehicle program.
LEMV prime contractor Northrop Grumman awarded the contract to AAI Corp, the company reported Monday.
Under the subcontractor terms of the LEMV agreement, AAI is to provide a modified version of its Universal Ground Control Station for the LEMV, a long-duration hybrid airship system.
The ground control station provided by AAI is to be compatible with NATO's STANAG 4586 standardization agreement, which tasks AAI to incorporate specific features in its Universal Ground Control Station allowing for interoperability with the equipment of NATO members.
AAI's Division Vice President, Ground Control Technologies Bill Irby said, "We have an established, decades-long reputation as a ground control technology designer and manufacturer. Our solutions share three critical features: interoperability, scalability and commonality. These characteristics enable AAI ground control stations to be deployed successfully in countless configurations -- including the hybrid fixed and mobile work station combination we will provide for the LEMV program -- and for various unmanned aircraft, ground vehicles and surface vessels."
