Sweden contracts for Gripen maintenance

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 31 (UPI) -- Swedish defense authorities have contracted Saab to provide the Swedish armed forces' fleet of Gripen fighter aircraft with maintenance support.

Swedish defense company Saab received the contract from the Swedish Defense Material Administration. Under the approximately $83.26 million deal, Saab will provide ongoing maintenance services on Gripen aircraft to ensure continued operational readiness.

Saab says the system work will include maintaining support for the Gripen flight system testing among other regular services and continual system maintenance.

A company news release said the "order applies to basic resources for enabling development and implementation of new material system versions for the Gripen through, for example, effective project management as well as maintaining the material prerequisites for conducting coordinated testing of the flight system."
