Kongsberg to deliver spare parts to Army

WASHINGTON, March 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Kongsberg to deliver spare parts and other services to maintain the Protector Remote Weapon Stations units on tactical vehicles.

Norwegian company Kongsberg received the order following a contract from the Army in January to delivery more than 3,500 of the company's Protector RWS units.

Under the new $28 million award, part of the company's Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station framework agreement, Kongsberg will provide the Army with spare parts and overhaul services among other requirements for Protector RWS systems integrated with Stryker vehicles.

"The U.S. Army is currently fighting on unconventional battlefields that consistently put soldiers in harm's way," Knut Saeter, Kongsberg Protech Systems executive vice president, said in a statement.

"Kongsberg is meeting the Army's needs by delivering a product that increases troop protection, adaptability and effectiveness."
