Army unit completes Chinook training

RIDLEY TOWNSHIP, Pa., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Another U.S. Army unit has completed an equipment and technology training program for the Boeing-made CH-47F Chinook helicopter.

U.S. company Boeing says the Army's 6th Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade has completed the prerequisite CH-47F New Equipment Fielding and Training Program.

By completing the aircraft training, the 6th Battalion, based in Kentucky, has taken over responsibility for 12 of Boeing's next-generation CH-47F Chinooks twin-engine heavy-lift helicopter.

"The CH-47F is proving its exceptional capability every day in combat operations," Leanne Caret, Boeing representative, said in a statement.

"This advanced aircraft significantly increases the unit's capability in harsh environments and high-altitude operations to meet a growing range of mission demands."
