The deal is part of an Army modernization effort managed by the U.S. Network Service Center.

Under the contract, LGS will modernize Fort Polk's technical infrastructure, upgrading the facility's hardware to 10 gigabits, among other modernization requirements.

"LGS continues to work closely with the U.S. Army to deploy new technologies that improve communications both inside and between its installations," Ron Iverson, LGS chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Our team of highly specialized network engineers is able to quickly identify, plan and deploy secure communications technology that provides enough bandwidth to support applications such as voice-over Internet protocol and video-conferencing."
