UN council OKs new Iraq sanctions

UNITED NATIONS, May 14 (UPI) -- The U.N. Security Council Tuesday unanimously altered the scope of sanctions against Iraq to more easily allow civilian goods into that country while tightening the ban on military items. It is the result of months of negotiations between the United States and Russia, a staunch Iraq backer on the council.
